Red Jack Palette Dyeing

Bring your aprons to this hands on dyeing workshop with April. Learn how to dye with April’s brand new easy-to-use Red Jack Palette System. Create up to 66 colors from three dyes specially created by April. Learn how to dye wool yardage and skeins of a single color and different values. Learn how to create mottled surfaces and dye textured wool. Learn how to create stunning blacks. As the wool simmers, hook a zipper pouch designed by April as a visual aid about ACTIVE color and learn how April uses her colors in her impressionist rugs. Class kit includes three jars of dye (students select from four Red Jack Palettes: Americana, Antique, Sedona, or Van Gogh), a deck of twelve recipe dye cards with a stand, a book of instructions and color samples, and the linen foundation for the pouch (with zipper attached).

Wool Snapshots

This is a hands on workshop where you will learn to set up, color plan, and hook your own 7" by 7" snapshot in wool. Students will learn about Zonalism, hooking value zones to achieve impressionists portraits. Instruction in color and design is also given. Several different finishing techniques are covered, including mounting the hooked piece on gallery wrapped canvas frames and Canadian show binding. Students will use leftover strips from their own stash or select from singlets dyed by April. Class kit includes serged linen, customized patterns from your own photo, instruction sheets, highlighters, pencil, marker, and transfer fabric.

Zoo Zone

In this workshop, students will select one animal pattern designed by April. Each pattern is 7” by 7”. Students will learn about Zonalism, hooking value zones to achieve impressionists portraits. Instruction in color and design is also given. Several different finishing techniques are covered, including mounting the hooked piece in small wooden frames and using Canadian show binding. Students will use leftover strips from their own stash or select from singlets dyed by April. Class kit includes serged linen, one animal pattern, instruction sheets, highlighters, pencil, marker, and transfer fabric.
